Introducing "Real Mom Life"

Mom to Mom friends, we have exciting news to share with you! We have recently finished taping sixteen new lessons for our next Mom to Mom curriculum series, Real Mom Life. The series includes a number of new topics (we’ve been hearing from you over the years!) as well as fresh perspectives on the ongoing challenges of mom life—such as ages and stages with children, parenting children with special needs, nurturing your marriage, and spiritual growth.

I am also excited to introduce you to the new Mom to Mom teacher you will meet in the Real Mom Life curriculum. Theresa Nelson has been involved with the Mom to Mom ministry since she had her first baby sixteen years ago. Since then, she has served as a Titus 2 leader, a Mom to Mom Ministries board member, and a guest teacher with the ministry. Theresa and I will teach some of the new lessons together, I will teach some of the lessons on my own, and Theresa will do a lot of the teaching on her own. Theresa and I have had lots of fun working together on the new curriculum. I enjoy teaching with her and I also like learning from her. I think you will, too!

Theresa and I also had a lot of fun preparing for the taping of Real Mom Life, from our hilarious wardrobe selection fashion show to the hair and makeup sessions with our own "glam squad.” (“You’re sure all of this make up is going to look ‘normal’ on the video monitor?”)

With the “glam squad” team: Joy (makeup) and Victoria (hair).

We worked with a talented team of video production professionals from Lightmark Creative in Massachusetts to bring these lessons to life for our Mom to Mom audience.

Lightmark did an incredible job of envisioning and building a beautiful set , installing cameras and lighting to capture stunning images on screen, and even forging through a New England snow storm to show up on time and maintain our aggressive taping schedule for the week. Chris Peters, executive producer and creative director, had such a gentle and encouraging way of coaxing the best possible delivery from us. (“How about we do that section again, and try . . .”) We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented team. Check out a few of Lightmark's Instagram posts about the taping week . . . as well as Mom to Mom Ministries’ Instagram posts!

The videos and the accompanying workbook are now in the editing process, so our goal is for the new series to be available for purchase this summer, ready to use when Mom to Mom groups begin in the fall of 2019.

Theresa and I have spent hours dreaming, writing, and praying together at my kitchen table.  We’ve come to think of that simple round, wooden table as “holy ground” because God has met us in powerful ways there.  Like the biblical story of the young boy who brought his meager lunch to Jesus, only to see that little lunch transformed into a feast that fed thousands, we can’t wait to see what our powerful God will do with the “little lunch” we have brought to Him. We truly believe God has brought this team and this project together. What joy it will be to watch God use Real Mom Life to transform moms and families for His glory!
